This USB C cable is an active optical cable (AOC) which supports video transfer via the USB C port (DP Alt Mode), This USB C is an Adaptive Active Optical Cable boasting a maximum data rate of 10Gbps and 60 watts of power at 10 Metre

The Adaptive technology takes action when the cable is being used for video. If you are running video over DP Alt Mode at 8K@30Hz then the adaptive technology in the cable will lower the USB data speed to USB 2.0 to allow for the higher video resolution.

If the resolution is up to 4K@60Hz then the cable is able to simultaneously transfer data at USB 3.1 speed of 10Gbps.

The USB C port will need to support DP Alt Mode for video use.

AOC is short for Active Optical Cable which is the latest in cabling technology. AOC removes the copper conductors and replaces them with fibre optical cores and a small transmitter and receiver in the connectors. Copper cores still remain to carry power along the cable.
